 Ekwunife Recognizes The Invaluable Role Of Mothers, As Catholic Women Organization Celebrates Mothering Sunday



The leading aspirant for the November 6 Anambra governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has felicitated with mothers in the state, describing them as priceless gifts to the society. She enjoined mothers to continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation.


Ekwunife, who said this in a statement released on Sunday, April 18, 2021, in commemoration of this year's Mothering Sunday by the Catholic Women Organization commended the great sacrifice of mothers in the family and society.


Senator Ekwunife stated that this year's Mother's day theme, 'The Role of Women In Eliminating Discrimination And Gender Violence', is felicitous considering the engagement of women as vessels for reaching out to the downtrodden and the under-privileged in the society which according to her is visible in the activities of women organizations of all christian denominations in the state. She described mothers as critical stakeholders in addressing various societal and moral deficits that had eaten deep into the fabric of the society.


The Igboukwu-born Senator who had on many occasions described mothers as bridge builders and natural care-givers, recognized the resourceful and endearing nature of mothers as well as their efforts in sustaining homes, families and societies. She reassured mothers that she is in the governorship race to bring unprecedented development to Anambra state, and solicited for their prayers and support.


Concluding, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, advised mothers on the importance of building a generation of good moral values through careful parenting. She prayed God to grant all mothers the strength, wisdom and courage required to sustain their services to humanity and encouraged them to use the celebration to unite in love and extend help to the needy, especially the widows and less privileged in their different localities.
